Potential for over 400 MW – all secured wind energy areas still included in draft plan

... for partial update of the Mecklenburg Lake District Regional Spatial Development Program

At its 63rd association meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the Mecklenburg Lake District Regional Planning Association discussed the final draft plan for the partial update of the Mecklenburg Lake District Regional Spatial Development Program (RREP).

As expected, it continues to include the areas for all eight wind farm projects for which ME Müritzer Energie AG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aleia Holding AG, was able to secure the rights of use for the construction of wind turbines.

According to the current status of preliminary planning, wind turbines with a capacity of at least 400 MW can be erected on these areas, even taking into account the exclusion areas announced in the draft plan, which are primarily intended to protect breeding bird species at risk of collision.

With its decision, the Mecklenburg Lake District Regional Planning Association has initiated public participation for the priority areas identified in the draft plan. The aim is to achieve the target set out in the Onshore Wind Energy Act (WindBG) of designating 1.4% of the state's land area for onshore wind energy by December 31, 2027.

"We have now reached a point where we can proudly say that our years of preparatory work, in which we invested a great deal of time, money, and energy, have paid off. Since we have been active there for so long and secured land very early on, we can now also benefit from the transitional provision for an accelerated approval procedure in accordance with Section 245e of the German Building Code (BauGB). " says Frank Thale, CEO of ME Müritzer Energie AG.

Dirk Volkmann, CEO of Aleia Holding AG, adds: “On this secure and very promising planning basis, a globally active M&A and corporate finance consultancy commissioned by us will now initiate a structured process for the participation of strategic investors or project partners in order to quickly submit the approval applications and further advance the projects.”
